The Quill

We hiked the Quill (the volcano on Statia) for the first time yesterday. It was awesome!

Partway up... a few different trails. We went to the crater rim first.

One of the trails. Not too far up yet

Here we are at the panorama viewpoint on one of the highest points on the crater rim. This is most of Statia with Saba in the distance. Pretty breathtaking :)

We put a zoom lens on Devonie's (Kayleigh's sister) camera and got a good shot of our house and the school classroom building. The picture is labelled :)

While we were at the top, we phoned Kenzie (who had to stay home because she cut her foot). She took a picture of the top of the Quill from our house. You can see us standing there! (labelled)

And zoomed in...

Some of us climbed down into the crater (it's more of a rainforest inside than anywhere else on the island)... There are some huge trees, vines, hermit crabs, lots of birds, butterflies, etc. It was amazing too :) The next 4 pictures are all during the climb down into the crater.

  2. Love the pictures are you having the most fun ever with the family, I know they have been so excited to see you! Please hug every one and especially Remi (although I am sure you haven't been able to even hug her since they all got there because they want to be with her so much) She is sure lucky to be born into a family that loves her sooooo much. Hope you enjoy your holiday!!
