Lately

Lately Remy is in love with the bathroom! Especially the toilet and the toilet brush.
The other day we were in the other room and we could hear yelling. We went into her room and found her on top of the printer. She couldn't figure out how to get back down.
We went to the park. She loved the swing.

The beach just seems to tucker her out. Even the bumpy roads couldn't keep her awake.
Bath in the sink. She loved it!
We don't usually let her run around naked but we did this weekend because she was sick. She loves to crawl onto this shelf.
White Wall. That is St. Kitts in the background.
This is Katie Erickson with Remy on the cannon and you can see Courtney Erickson in the background. These two girls are Remy's new best friends! Remy lights up the second she sees these girls. Also you can see Remy waving in this picture. She waves at everything and everyone lately.

Finally Some Beach Pictures :)

Here's the road down to the beach.
This is best beach on the island for swimming because it's on the Caribbean side. The beaches on the Atlantic side are nicer looking, but there are huge waves and riptides, so no one can swim there.

Mmm... sand

This lizard was on the wall around our yard. There are tons of them here!

Just More Pictures

This is where Joel goes to school.
This is the street by the school looking at the Quill.
Don't worry we disabled the airbag.
 Our sweet ride!

 Our neighbourhood goats.
 The ocean during the storm.
 Our beautiful sunset.

She is getting so big we can hardly believe it.

You can see how big our balcony is in this picture.

Welcome to Statia

What an eventful week!
On Sunday, we spent the day starting at 12am flying to Toronto and then to St. Maarten. Remy did extremely well on the flight and slept for a good part of both of them. We stayed the night in St. Maarten and then Monday afternoon we boarded our 20 minute flight to St. Eustatius. We were both nervous and excited to see our new home. Todd Erickson and Randall Cooper picked us up at the airport. I can't tell you how relieved I was to see them. They then took us to our little apartment and then grocery shopping and then we went to the beach. They beach is awesome! The water is so warm and the sand is black. Remy was a little skeptical at first I think because of the sound of the waves but she warmed up quickly and by the end of the evening at the beach she was asleep on Joel's shoulder. She barely slept at all Monday night partly because of the heat but I think it was mainly because she was scared and didn't know what was going on. Tuesday and Wednesday we spent just getting settled.

Statia is a pretty small island but it is extremely hilly. We don't have a car right now and weren't sure if we would really need one but we have since realized that we have to get a car as soon as possible. It would be fine walking to the grocery store and to the beach but to walk back home would be killer! It is so steep and would be uphill the whole way.

Grocery shopping is also interesting and makes us quite home sick. I would kill for a Walmart or Superstore! When we told people we were moving here they all told us we would be eating healthier because everything would be fresh and there wouldn't be as much junk. Well let me tell you that is NOT the case. Statia grows almost nothing for its self. Some people have fruit trees in their yards. But that fruit isn't sold in the stores. For fruit all I've seen is a few apples and maybe oranges. Vegetables: Cucumbers, broccoli, lettuce, peppers, onions and potatoes, and you can get frozen peas, corn and beans. There's probably (hopefully) a bit more that we'll find when we shop a few more times. We found some Tostitos chips in one place and they're like $8.50 for a big bag! Todd showed us a type of pop that's bottled in Jamaica called Ting. It's made from grapefruit and it's really good.

This is the view from our balcony.
