November

There hasn't really been anything special that has happened this month but Remy has grown up so much. Every day I feel like she is becoming less like a baby and more like a little person. We love her so much!

Remy's new favourite toy is her Magnadoodle. I feel like for being 10 months old it is pretty impressive that she has learned to draw on it. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know. But this is one of her pictures she drew. She does a new picture almost every time she wakes up from a nap. The other thing she does as soon as she wakes up is find your nose and then your ears. She points at them and tries to say their names. She now knows that everything has names and she will point at things, look at me, I tell her the name and she grunts and moves on to the next thing. It is adorable.

Remy walks around with everything. She totes around huge water bottles that weigh a lot. One night though she was walking around with her book and acting as though she were reading it. It was so cute.

Remy loves food. But she especially loves messy pasta.

This picture is for  Great Grandma and Grandpa McCrae. She finally fits into the shoes they bought her when she was a newborn. I love them and I think she looks so cute in them.

Joel goes fishing all the time. This is a lobster he caught one night.

This is a glass-eyed snapper. They are delicious and don't have many bones, which is nice.

There are two families leaving the island in December and they have started getting rid of things. We have been given a lot of toys and clothes. We appreciate all these things so much. One family gave us this chair, and you can tell Remy really likes it :)

Isn't she adorable!

Remy loves packing and unpacking any bag.

She's totes everything and anything around:)

The rest of these pictures are taken on the Atlantic (East) side of the ocean. It is called Zeelandia Beach. This beach would be so nice if the waves weren't so big and if it was cleaned up a little but it is fun to go out there every once in a while.

This is my favourite picture of Remy. Isn't she adorable!

Gotta love the hair!

Some island pigs.

 Isn't our Island beautiful? :)

The Amazing Remster

The last month has been a busy one for us and a lot has happened.

Remy started walking!
In the middle of September Remy started taking a few steps between Joel and I. She was up to 9 steps, and then Remy and I went back to Canada for a week at the beginning of October. She started walking even more and I think she was up to 32 steps, so basically walking. On the trip home in the St. Maarten airport she started walking between objects instead of needing people to walk between. When we got home, she totally regressed and was back to just taking a few steps between things. Our theory is that the uneven tile was messing her up. :) By the 26th of October she just took off and now she walks EVERYWHERE! It has been so fun.

Remy said her first word!
On October 21st Remy said her first word! It was "Dada." I know some people might think that Dada is just a babble word but this was completely different. She pointed right at Joel and said "Dada." It was probably the most exciting moment of my life. I was so proud of her. She now alternates between Dada and Dad and Daa. We haven't been able to get her to say daddy though. she has also said her second word (Mama) but she prefers to say Dad.

Remy is also understanding a lot more of what we say to her. It has been really fun. You can tell her to go get her blanket or her book or to go play with her toys and she usually knows exactly what you mean. She has also started to recognize that "no!" means no!! haha. That one has taken awhile and she isn't perfect at it but she is getting better. Oh and she has also learned to clap! FINALLY!

Remy has also become a comfort item baby. She is VERY attached to her blanket and she totes it everywhere. It is so cute to watch her walk around with her blanket in hand. She also started taking her soother about a week ago. (She found it in the toy box.) I was really apprehensive at first because she is getting a little old to be starting a soother but she is a different baby now that she has it. She used to spend most of the day whining at my feet. I couldn't even make her food or make dinner or even sit down without her whining. I tried letting her cry to see if she'd learn. I tried putting her in her bed to cry if she whined but nothing was working. Since she started her soother, she hardly ever whines and she has learned how to play by herself and walk and talk. It is like it calms her down enough to figure things out and learn on her own. And she doesn't need it to fall asleep so that is good. I guess maybe that makes me a bad mom for letting her have it but I'm a better more patient mom because of it so what the heck right?

Remy has also been sleeping through the night. I'm pretty sure it is because I am feeding her a lot of solid food. It has been so nice. She is also a pretty good napper now and she goes down fairly easily.

As a family we have been going to the beach a lot. Remy loves the sand and she no longer eats it, which has made the beach a lot easier for me. Joel usually comes and goes snorkelling for a bit. It gives him a nice break from school. He also goes spear fishing quite a bit.

The rest are just random pictures.

One Sunday at the Botanical Gardens with Erickson's and Saad.

I don't know if you can see this picture well, but one night the power went out on the island and the stars were absolutely amazing.

Oh yeah, we had a fence and gate built around our balcony so she couldn't fall through the pillars to the ground. Unfortunately she has learned to open the gate.

The other day I turned the T.V on and I left the room for a second. I came back to find Remy sitting on the couch with the remote in her hand. I can't believe she is big enough to climb up on the couch all by herself. Sometimes she amazes me!

 Funny face and crazy hair!

Remy's crazy curly hair!

This is a picture of Joel's class. There is someone taller than him...weird!
